Empowering women means providing them with the tools, opportunities, and support to make their own choices, contribute to the community, and lead fulfilling lives. It encompasses improving access to education, economic opportunities, and decision-making processes, which are fundamental for personal growth and societal progress. Women empowerment also plays a key role in addressing social injustices, reducing poverty, and promoting overall development.
MIDS’s Approach to Women Empowerment
At MIDS, the empowerment of marginalized women is a core component of our mission to uplift underprivileged communities. Our comprehensive approach to women’s empowerment includes several key initiatives:
Widow Support Programs
Providing counseling and emotional support for widows to help them navigate their challenges and rebuild their lives.
Income Generation Program (IGP)
Facilitating opportunities for women to start small businesses or engage in livelihood activities. This includes supporting ventures such as livestock farming, small-scale businesses, and commercial equipment purchases.
Skill Development and Training
Offering training sessions in various skills such as tailoring, computer literacy, and entrepreneurship to enhance women’s capabilities and promote economic independence.
Support for Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
Strengthening and expanding SHGs to create platforms for women to collaborate, share resources, and support each other in their personal and professional development.
