Housing Programme (GJHP)

Housing Programme (GJHP)

A personal home has always been a fundamental need for every generation and for all times. However, owning a home remains a distant dream for many poor families. Through the support of various charitable organizations, beneficiary contributions, and particularly the assistance from the SAFP programme, MIDS has provided financial aid for the construction of 160 new homes to date.

In preparation for the centenary celebrations of the Malankara Church, MIDS has been working diligently towards the goal of "A Home for Everyone."

For those who are burdened by mental stress and various hardships due to the inability to fulfill their dream of a home, MIDS's housing programme was launched as a means of support and relief for these underprivileged individuals. The Golden Jubilee Housing Programme (GJHP), supported by Save A Family Plan, addresses the critical need for safe and dignified housing for the underprivileged. Beyond providing basic shelter, this program supports survival, empowerment, and community development for the poor. Through GJHP, MIDS has worked to improve living conditions and promote socio-economic well-being for vulnerable families.

Rigorous Beneficiary Selection Process

A detailed selection process ensured that assistance was directed to the most deserving families. Preference was given to women-headed households, families with cancer patients, and those with children under 14 years of age.

Fund Mobilization and Community Support

In addition to the financial assistance provided by Save A Family Plan, MIDS mobilized extra funds from local panchayats, parishes, and well-wishers. This collaborative effort helped supplement the resources needed for housing construction and demonstrated strong community involvement in the programme.

Improving Living Conditions and Social Status

The successful completion of new homes has not only provided families with safe and secure living spaces but also elevated their social status. The programme’s impact is evident in the enhanced quality of life for the beneficiaries and their increased self-esteem and dignity.

Impact

The Housing Programme has played a crucial role in improving the living conditions of over 160 vulnerable families by providing financial support for house construction and mobilizing additional community resources.
