MIDS’ WATSAN initiatives focus on improving community health and environmental sustainability through clean water access and sanitation facilities. This includes programs for waste management, toilet construction, and rainwater harvesting.
Cleanliness Drive
MIDS conducted Cleanliness Drive as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. In collaboration with the Kulithurai Municipality, community members and MIDS staff worked together to clear waste and debris from the Railway area. The initiative also included planting trees and plants to beautify the surroundings.
Sanitary Toilet Construction Program
On February 28, 2022, MIDS hosted an event to distribute funds for a special project under the Silver Jubilee celebrations: the construction of sanitary toilets. Director of MIDS, provided a total of Rs. 3,00,000 as first-time assistance to 25 selected widows to build a new toilet.
Rainwater Harvesting Program
Rainwater harvesting involves collecting and storing rainwater for various uses such as drinking, irrigation, and recharging groundwater levels. As access to clean water is a significant challenge today, MIDS has been actively working to address this issue. The organization provides rainwater harvesting systems to communities facing water scarcity and raises awareness about this sustainable solution for improving water availability and quality.
