Kolping

Blessed Rev. Father Adolph Kolping, founded the "Traveling Workers Association" with 7 members on May 6, 1849, in Cologne, Germany. After his time, the association evolved into the "Kolping Movement". This movement operates under the principles of being:

Objective : To achieve holistic development for members spiritually and economically.

Today, the Kolping Movement has spread to 62 countries worldwide. In India, the Kolping Movement was started in 1980 and gained renewed vigor in 1991, operating with Coimbatore as its headquarters. Since 2007, Kolping India's national office has been operating from its own building in Chennai.

When the Marthandam Diocese was established in 1997, there were 15 Kolping families. Today, it has grown to 103 families. The aim is for Kolping family members to achieve holistic development both spiritually and economically.
