Public Awareness
Each year, MIDS organizes World Cancer Day in a grand manner to raise awareness about cancer. In preparation, volunteers and office staff are trained to coordinate the program effectively. They actively participate in distributing notices, holding placards, chanting slogans, and spreading information about cancer prevention measures.

Awareness Campaigns
Cancer awareness programs are conducted in various villages in Kanyakumari at public gathering places like bus stands. These programs see enthusiastic participation from public people, volunteers, college students, interns and parish priests, who contribute wholeheartedly to the cause
Collaboration with Colleges
MIDS collaborates with the MSW departments of colleges to organize public flash mobs and role plays, making cancer awareness more engaging and understandable for the general public.
Fundraising Efforts
During the awareness programs, funds are collected from the public to support cancer patients, ensuring financial aid for those in need.
Community Engagement
SHG members, Kolping members, and other community groups play a crucial role in spreading awareness. Close to 200 places are covered each year.
Impact
These public awareness initiatives have significantly increased cancer awareness in the community. By engaging a wide range of participants and collecting funds, MIDS ensures that critical information about cancer prevention and early detection reaches a broad audience while also providing financial support to cancer patients. The collaborative efforts of volunteers, students, and community members have helped foster a community-wide understanding and proactive stance against cancer.
