Save A Family Plan (SAFP)
The Save A Family Plan - Family Development Programme (FDP) is an initiative aimed at empowering marginalized families in our operational areas. This program instills confidence in these families and encourages them to pursue productive income-earning activities. MIDS has expanded its reach with an additional FDP unit, thanks to Save A Family Plan's support.
The Family Development Programme is based on the understanding that national development is inherently tied to the development of families. This programme focuses on assisting the most disadvantaged families in the community, including women abandoned by their husbands, widows, the disabled, and those affected by incurable diseases such as cancer, leprosy, tuberculosis, and AIDS. Priority is given to families whose children are under the age of 13.
Orientation and Support
Newly enrolled families are oriented about the program and its modalities. The program emphasizes individual initiatives, helping families identify suitable economic activities and start them with financial support from benefactors. Detailed fund utilization plans are developed with active family involvement, and MIDS recommends fund releases based on business plan assessments. FDP Field Coordinators ensure funds are used judiciously for their intended purposes.
Economic Activities
Partner families are guided to start Small Business Initiatives (SBIs) to advance economically. Regular cluster meetings facilitate sharing program-related information and educate families on the importance of SBIs. These interactions have been crucial in effectively implementing the FDP.
Impact
The financial assistance provided has enabled partner families to increase their income and improve their social standing.
