Thalirkal Ulagam
Quality education is essential for creating a peaceful and prosperous world. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary for health, employment, and fostering tolerance. While education can gradually transform the lives of the poor, many children from marginalized families lack the opportunity to pursue their schooling. Economically deprived parents often encourage their children to drop out at the high school level to work and supplement the family income, hindering the children’s future prospects and the development of their talents.

ThalirkalUlagam, aims to support rural poor children who need financial assistance to continue their education. Recognizing the challenges faced by rural families in providing quality education for their children and aiming to uplift future generations, MIDS established the Thalirkal Programme in 2002. This initiative supports not only the economic development of families but also fosters the personal growth of students and helps them achieve greater heights in life.
MIDS Children Sponsorship Programme, currently assisting 303 students from underprivileged families with the educational support to students studying from 4th to 12th grade. 580 students have successfully completed their sponsorship programme from MIDS and are now pursuing higher education.
Support and Coaching
Since June 2022, MIDS has resumed monthly special coaching classes and competency tests, which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These classes are crucial for enhancing the children’s academic performance, providing additional knowledge and skills, especially in English and general knowledge. The MIDS Talent Test prepares children for competitive exams and academic excellence. Financial support under this program is vital for covering educational expenses.
