Ezhuvom Iyakkam
Cancer, also known as malignant tumor or neoplasm, is a leading cause of death with increasing mortality rates every year. Many people feel helpless against this disease, exacerbated by daily exposure to harmful substances and unhealthy lifestyles. MIDS' EzhuvomIyakkam Cancer Care Project aims to raise awareness and promote community actions to prevent cancer.

Programme Launch
Phase-II of the EzhuvomIyakkamProgramme was launched on December 16, 2022, by Most Rev. Vincent Mar Paulos, Bishop of Marthandam, with Dr. John Arokiaraj, State Officer of Caritas India, as the chief guest
Volunteer Training
An orientation programme was organized to equip volunteers with skills in cancer prevention and reorient them towards the project's goals.
Cancer Screening Camps
Eleven camps were held, screening 368 women aged 18 to 60. Suspicious cases were referred to hospitals for further examination and follow-up. These camps were conducted in collaboration with Sree Ram Cancer Centre, Nagercoil.
World Cancer Day
Celebrated in 162 villages with active participation from 491 Self-Help Groups and 102 Kolping families. Awareness notices were distributed, and public collections were conducted to fund MIDS' cancer care activities.
Palliative care services were arranged for bedridden patients with the support of Sree Ram Cancer Centre, Nagercoil.
